Rava Upma is a very popular food from India. It’s a traditional food from the South Indin region. Upma is considered as the most popular, delicious, and easy to make breakfast in India.

Ingrediants
- Semolina (Sooji) – 3 cups ( 1 cup = 200 g)
- Ghee or Cooking oil – 2 tsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
- Black gram (Urad Daal) – 1 tsp
- Cashew – ½ handful
- Onion – 1 pcs
- Green Chilies – 3-4 pcs
- Ginger – 10 g
- Curry Leaves – ½ handful
- Green peas – ½ cup (100g)
- Salt – 1 tsp
- Sugar – 1 tsp
- Coriander – ½ handful
Preparation
- Heat up a pan or kadhai over medium flame, add 1 cup of Semolina(Sooji), stir the Semolina until it becomes crisp and fragrant (Remember not to overcook or make it brown). Place it on a plate and keep it aside.
- Now again heat a pan or kadhai over medium flame, add 2 tsp ghee or cooking oil, add 1 tsp Mustard seed, add 1 tsp black gram (Urad dal), stir it well. It gives crackling sound when it’s fried well.
- Now add some cashew and fry it until it turns golden.
- Finely chop 1 onion and add it to the pan.
- Saute it until it is slightly cooked and soft. (remember to make it brown)
- Now chop some green chilies, ginger and curry leaves and add the pan.
- Add some green peas and cook until the raw aroma of peas.
- Stir it well for a minute or a half, then add 3 cups of water on it. Add salt and sugar as per your taste.
- Once the water comes to its boiling state, start adding roasted Semolina(Sooji) little by little with a spoon.
- After adding all the Semolina, stir it from sides and mix it well. Semolina will start to swell up by absorbing water.
- Leave it for 2 min in the lowest flame.
- Lastly, add some chopped coriander on top of upma.
- And it’s ready to serve.
